About the event

A seasonal practice for the Winter

The winter is a time for slowing down, resting, and dreaming. As we settle into stillness, we can digest and integrate all the lessons of the previous year, and incubate new ideas and projects.

In the dark days of the winter we are very good at bringing light and festivities into our lives, but it can feel hectic and disconnected from natures cycles. As we move into December, we will explore practices that can ground us and keep us tuned in to nature as we move into a month full of socialising, feasting and keeping our inner fires burning.

The workshop will blend yoga and gentle movement with guided medtiation, time for reflection and sharing, and will close with a sound bath using gongs, singing bowls and a range of percussive instruments. I'll also provide seasonal warm drinks and refreshments.

This half-day retreat will also give us a chance to slow down in the process of the workshop, offering more chances for sharing and weaving our own little community, as well as time to appreciate the wintery garden around the cosy cabin space .

No prior experience is necessary and you are welcome to contact me with any questions about the venue or the practices.

Venue: Barracks Lane Community Garden

We will be using the beautiful octagonal cabin in the Barracks Lane Community Garden space, which has a wood burning stove to keep it nice and cosy. The space is fully accessible, and has a compost toilet just outside the cabin.

There is 4 hour street parking on Barracks Lane (by the allotments) and the surrounding roads. The garden also has secure bike racks inside the space.

What to bring:

- Wear clothing you able to move in freely, and a layers are good for ensuring comfort in moments of stillness.

- A yoga mat and a blanket for comfort. You also might like to bring an eye pillow or scarf to cover the eyes when resting for the sound bath. Get in touch with me if you are't able to bring a yoga mat.

- Bring water for hydration and a journal if you like to note things down.

Supporter & Financial Assistance places.

The 'supporter' admission rate is for those who can afford to pay a little more, in order to help cover places for those not able to pay full price. The 'financial assistance' rate is for those who cannot afford the full rate; if this rate is still prohibitive, please contact me by email to arrange attendance at an accessible rate (even if you cannot pay at all), with no questions asked.
